Grandora Care Lodge will be run by a Registered Nurse. I started working in the care sector when I was 18 years old and for many years I had been employed as a Health Care assistant in different locations. I have worked in a Medical centre where I used to help Dr’s with minor operations and also run a blood pressure monitoring clinic. Much of my experience came from working in residential/nursing homes many years ago, as well as Dr’s surgery and our local NHS hospital. I worked at a respite Hospital for over 5 years caring for individuals requiring respite care and end of life/palliative care. I have cared privately for individuals with MS and other ongoing Chronic illnesses, such as COPD, Diabetes and many others.
In 2007 I commenced working at our local hospital, starting as a health care assistant in A & E department. I enjoyed my work here and gained a vast amount of knowledge while working there. I realised that I could take my career further so I applied to do my Nurse training and was accepted. In 2009 I attended university for 3 years and qualified in 20012. Since qualifying and working within the care sector I have realised even more that I wanted to work with elderly/frail individuals so that I can provide excellent levels of care that is delivered to a very high standard.
My employment as a qualified nurse has been on a cardiac ward, I was there for around 1 half years. I always wanted to go back to A & E as a trained Nurse so applied when a job was available and was given a full time job in A & E. I have now worked in A & E for around 4 half years.
While in this position I have had to deal with many life threatening injuries, cardiac arrests, individuals with exacerbation of chronic illnesses and many other conditions. Skin assessments for pressure ulcers, wound care, catheter care and urinary retention. I am also qualified to fit male and female catheters, as well as administer iv medication and fluids. I have cared for many individuals and have gained much experience over my nursing career.
